The last pool match for the All Blacks was against Canada today. Rayce and I had planned to watch at Hunter’s Lounge again, but it ended up being closed. Instead, we walked down to the FanZone that is located right next to the harbour. It wasn’t as awfully crowded as I was expecting, probably due to the massive cloud cover threatening rain. It did start lightly raining right before halftime, and many people cleared out at halftime.
Earlier that day, I learned that Dan Carter, who is a very important player for the All Blacks, was injured during the previous day’s practice. The injury took him out of the tournament and robbed him of the first match he was going to captain. I felt really bad for him because the World Cup only happens every four years. The All Blacks beat Canada 79-15, but it was a sloppy game for both teams. After the match, Rayce and I walked to a café and had dessert before going to St. John’s.
Monday, October 3 – Friday, October 7
After such a wonderful weekend of sun, the rain came back with a vengeance. It rained constantly until Wednesday night and then off and on for the rest of the week. I barely got a glimpse of the sun. It became pretty depressing by Wednesday. On Friday, it changed from rainy to partly cloudy, but it was also pretty windy.
In the evening, I went to zumba in the club, which was an hour and a half zumba class with two instructors and chances to win prizes. When I was there, I found Rayce and another girl from his hostel. It was really fun and upbeat, and luckily, it wasn’t terribly crowded.
Later that night, Rayce came over, and we watched ‘The Office’ and ‘Modern Family.’ It was a nice, relaxing way to end the day.

Today I worked on copying my linguistics notes and making flashcards. I have my final exam on the last day of lectures. It will be good to get it out of the way, but it also means a bit of a stressful week. It is good that I have already finished all my reading for my English papers.
