The First Asian All Black

Sorry there were not any pictures in my last post. I have not taken any pictures recently, but I know it is boring to read so much text. I am going to post a few more pictures from holiday so there is something pretty to look at. Also, I have not done many exciting things recently because I’ve been working on assignments and essays. But that will change in a couple weeks when study week comes.

Tonight, a good portion of the Te Puni choir went to Istanbul for dinner. It was two-for-one mains, so we got to eat for a reasonable price. It was fun eating a good meal outside of the hostel. After we were done, someone suggested we go down to the pedestrian part of Cuba Street (same street the restaurant is on) and perform our songs.  We did, and it turned out to be pretty entertaining, for us as much as the few people who stopped to listen.

Today after class, I got to go see another play at Bats Theatre. Two girls from my hostel and I went to see ‘The First Asian All Black.’ The performance only had two actors, both male, and they each had to play 4-5 characters. I was very impressed with their stamina and acting skills.

I finally finished my children’s literature essay and linguistics assignment and turned both in today. The only thing standing in my way before finals is my New Zealand literature essay that’s due on Monday.
The weather was absolutely gorgeous today, so I spent the entire afternoon outside reading, partly for class and partly for pleasure. The abundant sunshine reminded me of Arizona. It made me happy to think that even if it’s winter when I get back to the States, I know I’ll still get lots of sunshine!
